ABOUT
As a commercial printmaker, I offer custom hand-made prints from your negatives in platinum-palladium, polymer photogravure, gelatin silver or inkjet, either as individual prints or as an edition. I can also make portfolio cases to your requirements.
As a photographer and book artist, I exhibit and sell my photographs through galleries and on my website.
I've been printing for photographers for over 30 years now, and for the past 16 years I've focussed on using the historical photo processes of platinum-palladium, polymer photogravure and 3-colour gum dichromate, as well as toned gelatin-silver and digital inkjet.
Besides still working with black and white film, I'm experienced in processing and editing RAW files for a variety of end uses ranging from historical print processes to digital print to web.
Everything I make — prints, books and cases — whether for myself or for a client is made with love, care and completely by hand using the finest papers and materials.
I'm originally from Bromley, near London in the UK, but I now live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
I started my career in London, printing for advertising, fashion and editorial photographers. By the mid-1980s I had opened my own lab, producing award winning prints for exhibitions, portfolios and books and writing regular articles for British photography magazines.
In 1996 I moved to the United States with my wife, Beth Dow, and two young children.
I continue to take photographs, print commercially, write and give the occasional talk and workshop.
